Ectoflex647 Case Study: Basement Waterproofing and Window Well Restoration

Problem

A homeowner faced water leakage in their basement due to deteriorating mortar under the window sill. The runoff water accumulated in the window well and seeped through the crack beneath the sill, causing damage and dampness.

Solution

Downpipe Diversion:

A nearby downpipe was strategically diverted away from the window area. This prevented excessive water flow directly into the window well.By rerouting the downpipe, the risk of water pooling around the window was significantly reduced.

Window Well Reconstruction:

The existing window well was excavated to create a proper slope away from the window. This ensured efficient drainage and prevented water accumulation. Soil from the excavation was used to contour the ground around the window, directing water away from the foundation.

Crack Sealing with Ectoflex647:

The crack beneath the window sill was thoroughly cleaned and prepared. Ectoflex647, a high-performance cementitious coating, was applied to seal the crack. Its impermeable properties prevent water infiltration and reinforce the structure.

Outer and Inner Wall Treatment:

Both the outer and inner walls surrounding the window were coated with Ectoflex 647. This additional layer of protection ensures long-term waterproofing and prevents any future water-related issues.

Gravel Placement in the Window Well:

Gravel was carefully placed at the bottom of the window well. The gravel acts as a drainage medium, allowing water to flow freely and preventing pooling.

Results

Gravel is added to the finished concrete waterproofed window well.

The comprehensive solution successfully addressed the water leakage problem, safeguarding the basement against moisture and structural damage. The homeowner now enjoys a dry and secure living space, thanks to the combined efforts of downpipe diversion, window well reconstruction, crack sealing, and Ectoflex647 application.

Remember that professional waterproofing solutions are essential for maintaining a structurally sound home and protecting it from water-related issues.
